Test Types

Lab PCR (results in 12-48 hours, expedites available)

Lab-Based PCR Tests send test samples to a laboratory to be analyzed, and deliver results in 1 to 3 days. Our partner labs, Thermo Fisher and Ortho Clinical are listed on the FDA Emergency Use Authorization at the FDA website, under FAQs on Diagnostic Testing for SARS-CoV-2. CLIA available upon request.

Rapid PCR/Molecular (results as quick as 30 minutes)

NAAT and SAG-AFTRA approve rapid testing.

  • Accula SARS-Cov-2 Test (Rapid PCR) uses a nasal swab sample and combines the accuracy of PCR with the speed and simplicity of rapid antigen tests, delivering visual results in 30 minutes.
  • Abbot ID NOW™(Molecular) is a rapid, instrument-based, isothermal system that provides COVID-19 results in 15 minutes. No nasal swab necessary, this isothermal technology allows you to make effective clinical decisions sooner.
  • RT Lamp Molecular Test (Rapid PCR) is a highly accurate and affordable solution to rapid detection of active COVID-19 infection in a large group. It is a rapid PCR test that can produce results for as many as 45 individuals in as little as 30 minutes per machine.  The test combines a nasal swabbed sample collected from the individual which then runs in a thermal heater to detect nucleic acids from SARS-CoV-2. According to current medical research, it is as much as 100x more sensitive than some RT-PCR tests. This means that it can detect the presence of an active virus at significantly lower levels.

Rapid Antigen (results as quick as 15 minutes)

Whereas molecular tests require specialized equipment for processing samples, an antigen test is simpler, because it requires smaller devices that are easy to transport. According to the CDC, antigen test sensitivity varies depending on the time in the course of one’s infection, but is considered to have “moderate to high” sensitivity during peak viral load. Compared to molecular tests, antigen tests are more likely to generate false negative results, especially when performed on people who don’t have symptoms.

Antibody (results within 2 days)

Antibody or serology tests look for antibodies in your blood that fight the virus that causes COVID-19. Antibodies are proteins created by your immune system that help you fight off infections. They are made after you have been infected or have been vaccinated against an infection. Antibody tests should generally not be used to diagnose a current infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.

Getting blood drawn can be time consuming and stressful, especially for patients who require regular samples. Mobile Phlebotomy cuts through the complications by providing a seamless concierge lab collection service.

Directcare clinicians meet patients in the comfort of their home, work, or wherever they choose, sparing them the travel and saving everyone’s time.

Our licensed clinicians are experienced, efficient and compassionate, and we put a premium on comfort and convenience for patients. That’s why Mobile Phlebotomy is trusted by Cedars Sinai partners and other executive Doctors’ offices as the best mobile venipuncture offering.

It’s easy to get an appointment

It takes just three steps to get a blood draw requested and booked:

  • Blood draws can be requested by a physician and billed directly to their office– or patients can request a draw themselves
  • The patient logs onto our scheduling portal and selects the time, date, and location that works for them
  • A licensed Directcare clinician meets the patient at the designated location, takes the sample, and drops it directly off to the patient’s selected laboratory

It’s as simple as that. For patients that require regular blood draws, having the option to give samples without coming into the laboratory is a game changer, and our straightforward system ensures that it’s an easy process for Doctors as well.

Which tests are offered through our partner labs?

Covid-19  Laboratory Developed PCR Test

Thermo Fisher and Ortho Clinical are listed on the FDA Emergency Use Authorization at the FDA website, under FAQs on Diagnostic Testing for SARS-CoV-2.

All swab tests have high sensitivity and high specificity.

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Antibody, IgG and IgM Tests

Roche and BD are performing the SARS-CoV-2 Antibody, IgG and IgM Tests in combination. Below is some background information on this testing.

After infection with SARS-CoV-2, viral antigens stimulate the body’s immune system to produce antibodies.  The virus incubation period and the days/weeks when the antibodies appear in the blood are defined below.

SARS-CoV-2 virus Antibodies, IgM and IgG

  • IgM appears early in the blood circulation after an infection (as early as 3-5 days).
  • IgG appears later  in the blood circulation after an infection (within 3-4 weeks).

"The IgM and IgG tests are able to detect the antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the kits have high specificity, sensitivity and clinical agreement with samples confirmed with PCR methods (RT-qPCR)".
